Framed by Appearance

Exhibit Opening

“We frame our view of the world through appearance. We interpret and judge by appearance. We are often obsessed with appearance. However, interpretations of appearance vary when viewed through the various filters of culture, education, religion, society and gender, perhaps even genetics. Appearance can be malleable and deceptive. Perception and reality are not always equal. Outward appearance does not necessarily reflect reality.
The world is framed by appearance.” Kathryn Maxwell
